Melissa Jill What NOT to Do when building your photography business!

Blogging with Melissa Jill
Melissa Jill Speaks about Business

This is a Recap of Melissa Jill Speaking at our Monthly meeting on what not to do when building your Photography Business

It would seem rather appropriate that many first time blogs  would be dedicated to Melissa Jill.   I also had a yearning to start up a blog after a 5 year hiatus and Melissa Jill’s Smugmug Phoenix East presentation was the final push I needed to begin my journey.

Photography Business & Entrepreneurship

Being an Entrepreneur or following your dreams takes a certain kind of gusto.  It seems like a great idea in theory but what I’ve learned from my own experiences and from observing others is it’s a very steep climb to the top.

I was inspired by Melissa’s courage and sacrifice to be where she is today.  As she had mentioned in sharing her story “You have to look fear in the eye” and ask “what is the worst that could happen?”

I feel the biggest risk is living a life where dreams are sacrificed for the illusion of security.  Although my beliefs can cause a certain type of struggle from time to time, I still insist on the rightful ownership of my passion as well.  I would love to share it with the world.   It’s a type of passion that is bursting at the seams, it can no longer be contained and Melissa Jill made me very aware of that passion through her presentation.

I thought Melissa was articulate, creative and very driven.  Her goal setting was also something I really enjoyed.  She had shared with the group her 101 goals in 1001 days strategy.   I thought this could be a great way to propel people forward.

It’s very challenging to make a great living as a photographer and entrepreneur.  Melissa gave people realistic tools to get started if that is their goal.  She discussed her personal obstacles, success and love for what she does.   This may have been one of my favorite smug speakers to date.
