Judges’ Comments
* I love this! The symmetry works really well here with the curved lines, horizontal lines, etc. I also think it being back and white lends itself to the impact as it forces the viewer to pay more attention to the lines and composition.
* Great capture. I like the fact that you have to study the image to figure out what you’re looking at. Love the lines as well. B&W also adds to this image
Javier’s Comments
Was extremely excited to participate in this weeks weekly challenge due to the fact I’ve found new interest in the art of black and white architectural photography.
Congratulations, Javier!!

Laura’s Comments
I love photographing The Elvis Church. This is my favorite shot so far. I like shooting it at night also.
I became interested in photography about 5 years ago. I started with my mom’s Pentax and then was given a Canon Powershot and now I have a Canon 60D. I like to shoot landscapes and flowers mostly, but will shoot anything.
Congratulations, Laura!!

* I like the reflection and the colors in the image compliment well.
Larry’s Comments
This shot was taken while waiting for the super moon to rise. I love HDR when used like a spice, sparingly and in the right proportion to support the image.
I started taking pictures with a Kodak DuoFlex 620 film camera at age 8, then a Kodak Signet Rangefinder 35mm but go out of taking pics by age 25. Got back into it with DSLR’s 5 years ago.
Congratulations, Larry!!

Congrats to all the winners! Absolutely stunning choices this round! *LOVE* the architecture winning photo for it’s bold graphic quality, the History winner for it’s oil painting look and the beautiful mirror-like water captured in the winner for the Local Wonders of Nature category!
I love all three of these. Javier’s architecture work is always fantastic.
Larry is just, well… Larry, no need to say more. 🙂
And Laura’s Elvis Church – the tones are rich and buttery. (Can you use that to describe a photo?)
Well done. Congrats everyone!
Thank you for the honor. 3 wins eh? I guess I am finally reaching the area in quality I have long aspired to. 🙂
Of course I need to mention Javier and Laura too. When I saw the shot of the building I knew immediately that was a winner. The B&W treatment was perfect for this shot. I am also a fan of B&W.
What can you say about the little church… ? What I say is “timing”. It is photographed so often catching it at this moment with he lovely clouds helps to make this a winner.
Contrats to you both.
Congratulations everyone.
All three photos each display a unique energy, conceptualized by their owners capture. The Architecture photo, I’m drawn to the bold lines; the black and white exudes strength, openness and boundless areas. The History photo, exudes a soft yet steadfast structure and venue that speaks out to me to read its story closely and the Local Wonder of Nature, the reflection on water calls out to me to meditate and breath all the wonderful energy that revolves around the area. Congratulations to the three photographers 🙂
Congrats to Larry and Laura 🙂
Beautiful set of images this week and thankful to be a part of it 🙂
Cheers from Tolleson everyone 🙂
I am honored that you chose my church. Thank you. Congratulations to Larry and Javier also!
Wow–beautiful job everyone! One thing I love about PAC is that if you have a love for the art of photography–you fit in here. It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or not–everyone is equal and it pushes you to be better every time you snap your shutter! Javier–if this is a new interest for you, I think you’ve found a hidden talent! Can’t wait to see more! Laura–such a great capture of the church–reminds me of a beautiful painting you’d see hanging over a fireplace in a cabin in the old west! 🙂 (and I LOVE the old west!) Larry–I absolutely love the solitude that your image provides–I’m ready to go there and spend some one on one with the big guy upstairs! Congratulations, to all of you! 🙂
