The Cache Valley PAC event this past week was a Light Painting Workshop. We had a fantastic time out shooting with 30 photographers and a model teaching and sharing light painting techniques and methods. We started off with some very basic steel wool instructions and added in some off camera flash to the light up the model a bit. This is an event that we’ve done a few times and has always been a huge success!

We love getting together and seeing what crazy images we can create together!

Check out some of the images below and some basic information on how they were created!

This photo was taken during our instructional period at the beginning, huge thanks to Keith Hambly for running up to the second floor to shoot this solid behind the scenes shot!

A little steel wool orb behind one of our models and a blue gelled speed light to add some kick and contrast to the yellow in the background. The key light is a speedlight on a 43in umbrella.

Our Model Monica was amazing and let us throw sparks all over her! This shot was taken by John, a very active and awesome member of our group! He is there at almost every single weekly event!

We finished off the night with some LED orbs. These were created by taping 4 small LED lights together and tying them to the end of a length of para-cord.

Thanks for stopping by!
