Online Community
Did you learn about PAC through social media? If not, you may want to check out or Facebook and Google+ groups and pages! There you’ll find that members from all over the globe are VERY active as a community online. The chapter page here on our website also provides links to pages for each of our local PAC Chapters.
Curious about new (or even very old) equipment? What about location ideas, shooting techniques? Want to share your images, maybe a joke or two, or get inspired by some really PHENOMINAL photographic artists and professionals? Give the online groups and pages a visit today! PAC members are friendly, helpful, creative, and FUNNY! No matter whether you’re brand new to a camera and can use a kind helping hand, or if you’re a seasoned professional who’s seen all the “bumps in the road” – there are great friends waiting for you online.
Group Outings and Events
PAC is all about FUN, and fun is infused in everything we do! Of course, that is not to say that we aren’t darn serious about photography; it just means we enjoy it the most when laughing and discovering right alongside friends who share the same passion.
PAC Photowalks are scheduled to places that your event host would love to visit even without a camera – sometimes even without other people for that matter! Nature conservatories, urban districts, ball games, cultural events – you name it and we’ve probably got a photowalk lined up for it or someplace like it. If not, just say the word and your local PAC Leader can get it on the board.
Networking Happy Hours are social mixers where you can meet members with similar interests, enjoy conversation, swap tips, have a bite to eat, and just chew the fat. We frequent local small businesses, restaurants, pubs and other locations where we can bring our consumer business to the proprietor while enjoying our obsession – er, passion.
Group Model Shoots are still social, but squarely focused on getting you on your feet as a first-shooter with all the studio essentials at your disposal. This means everything necessary to get a taste of shooting professional models using off-camera flash, backgrounds, wardrobe changes, and props. Come away with some fantastic examples of what your portfolio could contain, along with a much better idea of whether studio work is for you. If so, as you’ll read below; we have even more to offer…
Meetings, Seminars, Classes, and Workshops
At the heart of all PAC activities (aside from a whole lot of fun) you’ll find useful information.
Every one of our Monthly Chapter Meetings centers around bringing you new insights, introducing you to pros who speak on an array of specialties, providing step-by-step advice, and amazing levels of creative inspiration.
Half-day Workshops on lighting techniques and equipment, working with models, shooting portraits, posing and other core skills put your theoretical knowledge in action. Work up from basic equipment and simple setups to complex configurations that yield dynamic results. No matter your experience level, there is always something new to learn.
Half-day and Private Model Shoots put you even more in control creatively with one or more hours where all of the equipment and the subject is at your full disposal.
Travel, Adventure and On-Location Workshops
Do you love to travel with your camera? PAC has a variety of Single and Multi-day Trips for you to choose from. Some are leisurely for sightseeing and capturing tranquil landscapes, while others are focused, hands-on workshops meant to put your book learning to the test.
Some trips are even Multi-location Excursions, such as Arches National Park and Canyonlands, planned with seasonal temperatures and sunlight direction in mind for the optimal experience. In remote locations, we often combine the fun and adventure of camping out with our passion for creating photographs. We also occasionally like to experiment with light-painting and other “out of the box” techniques in order to create images that are far from ordinary.
We keep our guided trip rates very low and competitive so won’t have to choose just one to attend. Members are also encouraged to ride-share and split other expenses where it makes sense. Good for the environment, and the pocketbook – more gear for you! =)
