We have seen no innovation from Canon or Nikon in over 2 years, no response to the mirrorless movement which is huge here is an video we did 52 weeks ago on Photography: After Hours about are the big camera manufacturers keeping up with the times?
A year later we still say NO! The Iphone is more advanced, the Lumix GX8 was released with 4k Photo & Panoramic modes, the Olympus line released the OMD-EM-5mk2 & just released a firmware to add a ton of new options in camera such as FOCUS Stacking and more! The Sony line updated both the A7r & A7s to Mark 2 versions.
And now Sony jams a FULL Frame sensor into a glorified Point and Shoot camera, granted it has a fixed lens and some other things that don’t make it my cup of tea BUT it shows they are innovating! Will the big guys become the next Kodak?
I had my first experience with m4/3 on a trip to France. My wife had been encouraging me to get a smaller form factor of gear for our travels. I tried several PS’s and was unhappy with the files. Had the GH2 and 14-140 lens for the trip. Came home and the files didn’t fall apart when I tried to push them. Found the vacation camera and told all my friends, shouting from the rooftops, if you will… Fast forward a bit and thanks to friend Skip Cohen was introduced to the Panasonic manager for the Lumix Luminaries. Was named one and have had access to the gear as the advances came. When the GH3 came out I started doing more of my pro work with the cameras. Then the GH4 came out and the rest of the pro level glass came out that I needed. After a bit of shooting the Full frame DSLR and Lumix GH4 side by side I set the DSLR aside for two months then started selling off the DSLR gear…
I agree I just sold my 5Dmk3 and have only been shooting with the GH4 since june!
I just purchased the GH4 a few days ago. I’m a Nikon shooter and love my d750 but I have a feeling I won’t be picking it up much anymore. I LOVE the GH4!
I love my GH4 its a great camera and I carry it EVERYWHERE! What lenses did you get or are you looking at?
Yes I was tempted away from my canon5diii for a few months, I purchased the Sony a6000 and it is a good little camera particulate it’s software and swivelling screen. But at the end of the day it’s all about picture quality and yes it was nice to not have to drag around my huge backpack full of lenses and heavy camera but my 5diii defiantly gives a better quality image especially at high ISO
