When we look at a photograph, the resolution can make all the difference…is it clear, sharp, well-defined? Does it make us want to take a second look, spend some time with it, appreciate it?
It’s the same with the photographer. Our resolutions can help us better define and express ourselves….as people and artists. Everyone I know in this group has a common goal…to LEARN more. Here’s some ideas for resolutions the will guarantee to move you forward all year long.
L = LOOK for natural frames, contrasts (colors and subjects), repeating patterns, reflections, interesting backdrops, textures, angles, architecture, “S” shapes
E = EXPERIMENT – change your settings, change your focus, “paint” with a flashlight, lighting, fill-flash, exposures, street shots from the hip, night photography, action shots, imitate a famous painting, participate in Theme Challenges
A = ACQUIRE new skills – attend photo chats & seminars, subscribe to photo newsletters, go to galleries, read manuals & books, enter contests, Join PAC’s Google+
R = ROAD TRIPS – go to new places, go to old places and find new photo ops, take photos to tell a specific story/theme about where you are, go on meet-ups & Photo-Walks
N = INNOVATE – develop your own style, create your portfolio, create slideshows, learn post processing techniques such as Photoshop or Lightroom
Most important, keep smiling and keep sharing…
