We need to come together for a cause today!
PAC: I know we are a vibrant community, and sometimes we get knocked down. Today I was made aware of terrible news. One of our Leaders, Dana (“Dafire” as you may know her) had ALL of her camera gear stolen. The odd part of this was that I finally talked her into getting insurance, which she was planning to do next week!

Let me tell you a little bit about Dana. She is the most kind and friendly person you could ever meet. She is giving and thoughtful. She donates her time to various causes such as our own Help Portrait, Comicon and the PAC Leaders board, plus many others.
(On a side note, Dana works many hours behind the scenes for PAC: planning events, proof reading articles and editing blogs!)
There are many other personal stories I can tell you about Dana that make her an amazing and wonderful person. This despicable act could not have happened to a nicer person who is completely undeserving of such a crime.
I NEVER ask anyone in PAC for anything – BUT I am asking we mobilize and start a fund to raise money for Dana to purchase her camera, I will be loaning her my backup camera a Canon 7D body; if anyone has a lens they can afford to let her borrow, we can get her going for Comicon next week!
PLEASE open your heart and donate a few dollars or equipment that you may be selling, or that is collecting dust, for this cause. I personally am donating $100 to the cause. But we will accept donations in ANY amount!
Please Pay it Forward. 🙂

BIG thanks go out to PAC member, Michael Simon, who is generously loaning Dana his Canon 1D so she can still fulfill her commitment as a photographer for the upcoming Phoenix Comicon!
Thank you, also, to all the PAC members who have kindly offered Dana words of support, encouragement, sympathy and who have offered her the use of their equipment. We have such a magnificent group of giving and caring individuals in the PAC!
Thanks to you ALL for being a part of the Photographers Adventure Club and for seeing how important this is to me.

I certainly have a lens that I can lend if she needs it.
Have her email me at spyderhawke@gmail.com. I will be at Comic Con and I’ll help her out as much as I can.
I have a Lowepro DayPack that I no longer use That Dana can have if she would like.

I don’t have any Canon gear, but I do have a single DSLR camera bag (Lowepro) that you’re very welcome to Dana.
Pretty much everything else I own is Nikon specific, but I do have a collection of UV and Circular polarizing filters, though I’d bed they’re too small.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. My D7000 and assorted gear was stolen while at work last July. The feeling of loss and intrusion is terrible.
So your telling me a leader of this group and a professional photographer at that who has gigs to do had to be convinced to get insurance? Really how unprofessional. First thing you do in business is get your liability and then get your gear insured. I insure 25K plus of gear for $580 a year and drop in the bucket compared to the cost of replacing stuff. Stuff like this happens all the time and it sucks when it does but not having insurance for your gear is just plain stupid. I have no sympathy for dumb people.
Sean Have you ever heard of a starving artist? Am I stupid because I cant afford medical insurance? Your attitude is rude and uncalled for. I am sure you are perfect in every way.. good luck in the future
Sean, too much of your nonsense.. I Say With Hand Raised.. Good Day!!
Wow, Sean…just because people get paid for what they do doesn’t mean we all have enough money to buy insurance right away…and AS NOTED she was about to purchase the insurance so while your opinion may be valid, you definitely did not need to bring it at her like that. YOU as a professional should KNOW THAT!
I Don’t know what lens was offered but I have a Canon kit 18-55 available if Dana needs it. Just let me know.
Did anyone put in a tripod? Does she need a tripod? I have one she can have.
Great Karen Thank you!
Nick, I have a Canon 10-22mm and a 24-105 to pair with your 7D that Dana can use until she gets a new camera. Also a 580EX flash and a Tenba sling bag to carry all of it if she wants.
Great SC I will ask her what she needs when I have a chance to chat – Thank you!
I can drop off what you need on Saturday. I am off on another exciting mission on Sunday.
