Today Adobe Lightroom CC & 6 releases with some awesome new features.
First of all its faster! Almost 10x faster some are saying!
Major new features include:
- Create HDR images
- Hdr DNG
- Panoramic merge/stitching
- Facial recognition
- Filter brush erase
- Advanced slideshows and pan / zoom
- Plus more improvements!
I’m liking the HDR – you get a DNG image that is highly editable within LR. Nice! Panorama’s seem to have limited scope – I tried to do a vertical pano and got bupkas. Horizontal only, at least for now. Not crazy about the facial recog – it was annoying in PSE. Still haven’t tested out the slideshow. Liking the granularity in the sliders and scrubby sliders. That feature is much improved – Thank-you!
Random thoughts on the newly installed Lightroom CC:
Scrolling through folders containing hundreds of RAW files is MUCH faster and smoother
The Panorama and HDR blending features are very rudimentary and not exactly what I was hoping for. Much better in PS or Perfect Photo Suite for my needs
The opacity brush for eliminating areas when using the gradient or radial masks is a welcome addition. For example in the PAC skyline above you can apply a gradient to the entire sky and just brush away the areas where it would affect the buildings. Similar to, but not as complete as Perfect Photo Suite though.
For general image editing I think LR still rules the roost
It may just be me, but the clarity and color purity of the full size previews is significantly better, or at least so it seemed last night.
The speed increase isn’t really all that much for just normal correction. I’m not sure I even notice
I just scratched the surface so far, but it seems to be a worthwhile upgrade with 64 bit performance for those with 64 bit systems. No versions for 32 bit systems
Thank you for posting this here too!
