During the month of September, the Cache Valley PAC focused on Off-Camera Flash. At our first meet up of the month, I put together a short presentation about common light set-ups and styles or lighting patterns.
(Download slides here) We briefly studied some examples courtesy of google images and had an open discussion about when and how to use these lighting techniques. After the presentation, we broke into groups and practiced these lighting set ups on each other.

Two weeks later, we put all our new knowledge to use in a real-life setting. A local studio (Cache Valley Photographers Connection) donated three hours of studio time to Cache Valley PAC. With around 25 photographers and 5 models, we split up in the studio and outside of the studio to make some amazing off-camera flash images.
My favorite part about shooting with these people is we all had the same models, same backdrops and even same equipment and light set ups, but we all added our own style and twist.
Here is a slightly cut off out of focus group picture of all the photographers still around at the end of the shoot taken by one of our models. We had a blast!!
Settings: Nikon D600 at 50 mm ISO 100 f/1.4 1/160 seconds & ISO 100 f/2.2 1/160 seconds
What I likes about it: LEFT I love the split lighting, making the photo slightly moody. RIGHT I love the vibrant colors and textures.
